WMPP : A MOVEMENT !

Soon after 9/11 (Sept 2001)happened,which many of us saw live on TV, a group in TOI, under the TIMES FOUNDATION forum started meeting. We had stalwarts from various fields..Mr Julia Ribeiro,MrKhorakiwala,Mr Javed Ahmed, Capt Nair, Nirmala Sawant,Mrs Maya Shahani,Mrs Shakun Narain Kimatrai,Dr Zeenat Ali,Mrs Uzma Nahid,Mrs Leena Prabhoo

TOI Editors, and very often Times Chairman Mrs InduJain,herself.

There was no agenda except :

WHY IS THERE SO MUCH VIOLENCE IN THE WORLD ?!?!

These meetings went on for nearly 10 months !!!

One argument often came up : the world has 3 billion women,and most women are known to be compassionate. So, how come, the collective compassion of these 3 billion women is not able to neutralize the violence. This got deliberated threadbare and the group came to a conclusion : that although these women have enough compassion in their heart…they are not able to exercise this compassion because..

A LARGE NUMBER OUT OF THESE WOMEN DON’T HAVE A VOICE.

That is how, WOMEN’S MOVEMENT FOR PEACE took birth.Mrs InduJain, Times Chairman suggested that we add ‘prosperity’ to it as peace without prosperity is difficult.

Thus around end 2002, a movement took birth :

WOMEN’S MOVEMENT FOR PEACE & PROSPERITY.

Thereafter, Mrs Indu Jain organized a large interactive workshop,anchored by Ruby Bhatia and Actor Naghma. The theme of the seminar was :
GIVING VOICE TO THE VOICE-LESS WOMEN.

The group chose following routes(called tables),for giving this voice :

1. Education
2. Health
3. Spirituality & Communal Harmony
4. Legal Empowerment
5. Environment

A group was formed by their own choice for each table.

For nearly 5 years, projects were taken up in each of these tables..involving several support systems from Times Foundation as well as several NGO’s.

WMPP is now being rejuvenated through fresh inputs.

You may wonder why I post so much… honestly… I want to share, with you my lovely friends, how much one can do with life…so smile we all have problems and So…this is the 5th Mother Centre we opened today at Paranjape School. What is a Mother Centre ? it is an effort to do service for the mothers of the students in a school ( free medical checkups, learning about nutrition , learning skills…)we believe that not only do mothers neglect themselves but are, by and large overlooked by society for their contribution… so as I said to them : …we women have great qualities , but sadly forget our importance … we have a voice… but it needs to be an intelligent one if we need to be heard… we need to look after our family but not neglect our health…after all the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world …

As a part of GEMS OF ALL FAITH..an initiative of WOMEN’S MOVEMENT FOR PEACE & PROSPERITY. .along with BRAHMKUMARIS.

These sessions which earlier were done as physical events, will now temporarily be done as online Webinars where each Faith/Community will be focused upon in a One Hour session.

The objective of these sessions is to help people have mutual respect, love, harmony, understanding and compassion for each other’s faiths, religions, communities, culture, ethnicity etc. These sessions will be conducted by individuals from different faiths, communities, who have respectful standing in the Society/who are doing or have done work for humanity, society or excel in their field.

Ms Maya Shahani was the chairperson of WMPP before me … so now Both Former Chairpersons … our love and respect for one another during all these years shows that our hearts are in the right place… Let Compassion and Love prevail and Peace and Prosperity will follow…

Counselling session from WMPP experts. 76 mothers participated.

WMPP means to try n bring peace and prosperity…to men (& women)..the route is through women compassion…women are not the destination.
It is meant to exinguish male aggression through WOMEN’S compassion…half of the women in the world are suppressed..hence their compassion has to be facilitated…to come out…and

Extinguish the uncalled for male aggression.

The process is mainly to locate such suppressed women….give them physical n mental health…
Which will automatically released the genetic reservoir of compassion (which all women are endowed with)
