I received the following mail from one of my readers and I would like to share my reply with all of you.

Dear Shakun,

This is Ranjana again. Can you throw some light on the Shree Yantra and the effects of keeping it in the house and the care required to do so. How was is created and by whom and for what purpose etc. etc. Thanks a ton in advance

With love,

Ranjana

My reply is as follows :

It is believed that the Shreeyantra has been in existence since time immemorial.

Old Scriptures claim that it brings good fortune and wards off evil influences. People generally keep a Shreeyantra made of pure crystal stone  in their house, place or worship and place of work for good luck.

The size of Shreeyantra varies from  10 grams  onwards  and its size is  entirely dependent  on the availability of the crystal .

Shreeyantra has a connection with “Vaastu Shastra” . The upward triangles of  Shreeyantra  corresponds with the  fire element, the circles with the air, the point with the sky, base with the earth and the downwards triangle corresponds to the water. It is believed that the Shreeyantra is effective in balancing the negative effect where the Vaastu has not been done correctly.

The Shreeyantra should preferably be kept in your place of worship. One can do a Praan-Pratishta (Breathe life) into a Shreeyantra. This can be done by meditating upon the tip of the Shreeyantra which is believed to be the abode of Celestial Beings. One should then chant the Maha Laxmi Mantra:

Om, Shreem hreem shreem kamale kamalalaye Praseeda, Praseeda,
Shreem, hreem shreem Om Mahalakshmiye Namah

It is believed that the Shreeyantra has the power to absorbs the negative rays and positively charge the atmosphere.

The Shree Yantra can be placed either on red cloth or gold or silver plates. both are fine, as plate is easier to clean.

For joy and happiness, chant:

Aum Namo Bhagavate Vasu Devaaya

addressed to Lord Krishna
