Freedom from Fear

A famous Indian proverb states that a snake may not kill you, but the fear of a snake, might!

The ultimate fear, is considered to be the fear of Death.

But do you know, that we ‘die’ everyday?

Every child that is born is moving towards death. His childhood dies when his youth takes birth…

Every old cell in the body is replaced by a new one…

The Scriptures claim that Death is nothing to be afraid of.

Jesus did not die. He ascended. And He claimed that whatever He did, we can too.

So called ‘Death’ is only a resting place.

Great sages said: ‘Why do you weep when the 5 elements that the body consists of, ‘dies’? There is no need to cry for the Soul as It is eternal…’

Science claims that Energy is neither created nor lost.

So nobody ‘lives’ or ‘dies’. Changes in Nature take place.

Yogis invite death and experience its mystery, by secret techniques.

Krishna says in the Geeta that death could be compared to a person getting out of his tattered garments into fresh new ones!

You might say that you will never meet the person who ‘dies’ again.

And I believe that you will. In the after life, which is a continuation of existence.

Tell yourself that there is no event such as ‘Death,’ and then stop listening to the chatter of your mind and get busy with routine things!

I can just about hear you saying that I am out of my mind!

Maybe it is a good idea to be out of ones mind and rest in the heart, in faith that ultimately whatever happens, is for the good for mankind!

Have faith! How? Try!

I have read that you are expected to push the mountain, which will build up your muscles.

The moving of the mountain, God does!

Whether you believe it or not, the real reason for our unhappiness is because we do not have an over-all true knowledge of things.

If one learns not to get overly attached to things and outcomes, Life becomes easier and so does death!

Believe that you are neither the body, nor the mind nor the intellect.

You are the ‘Self’ the Tue Spirit.

And that Spirit, weapons do not pierce, fire does not burn, water does not wet and wind does not dry!

Krishna said the above words to Arjuna just prior to the great war of the Mahabharata.

I do not know who has originally said the following words that I am about to share with you, as I sign off.

‘Fear knocked at the door.
Faith answered!
No one was there.’

Thank you for your mail. We have corresponded in the past and I hope that you would recollect that it is always done on faith that our correspondence is but a DISCUSSION and LEARNING EXPERIENCE and not an argument. We would definitely differ but we should take it in a healthy spirit.

Going through your mail I would like to mention that when you or others mention “believe that I am not the body” it scares me quite a lot. I have been trying to do that but it has only lead me into troubles. I was pacified only after reading somewhere that unless you REALIZE that you are not the body, you will be bound by the law of Karma. Once you have REALIZED that you are not the body, all your activities will be right, as you will be the self realized person and not bound by karma and till you have the physical body, you will be performing actions but they will NOT be bound by the law of karma as the actions will be not your actions but of the divine.

So unless a person has REALIZED he is not the body, he should not even dare to behave in that way ( I am not the body), because people can do all kinds of nonsensical activities and justify by quoting this. It is like saying Krishna had so many gopis, so what if I have three girlfriends. The fool does not realize that first of all Krishna lifted the Govardhan mountain, so if you are trying to ape Krishna, then at least lift a stone by your left finger. Also, as you have pointed out in previous newsletters, Gopi’s love for Krishna was spiritual, and so we can’t compare. But there are mistaken entities, who would misinterpret.

I hope I have not offended you. If so, I seek forgiveness. Would be glad if you bring this point in your next issue for the benefit of all.

Hari Bol!

I replied:

Dear Sandeep,

Realize is definitely more apt than ‘believe’. Sandeep, I always enjoy feed-back from Readers whether they agree with me or not, as it shows that I make my readers think, and I promise to take it in ‘a healthy spirit’

Dear Shakun ,

I needed it so as you said ‘freedom from fear’. For last few days, my mind was loosing senses over trying to control the things and out comes in my life. When now I read the words…”If one learns not to get overly attached to things and outcomes, Life becomes easier and so does death!

Believe that you are neither the body, nor the mind nor the intellect.

You are the ‘Self’ the Tue Spirit.

And that Spirit, weapons do not pierce, fire does not burn, water does not wet and wind does not dry!”

To live was becoming so fearful cause I was scared of the time passing by. There is this attachment to my youth getting old. It is so riddling….God blessed me with physical beauty to enjoy and yet when I indulge in the joy coming from it..the fear of loosing physical beauty with time, haunts me.

The joy of living comes with the feeling of me being a spirit!!

Love to you for reminding me and pinching me to reality.

My Reply :

Remember that you can always be beautiful no matter how old you are. Maybe at 50 you cannot be a beauty of 20, but nobody but yourself can stop you from being a beautiful 50 years.
