Dear Friends of 1963 (Queen Mary School, Bombay)
Thanks to the enthusiasm & momentum created & maintained by all contributors so far, I too feel drawn to share from my little pad in England.
I loved learning Hindi from Miss Kalvade/ Mrs. Rajhans. Her keen teaching skills & genuine interest in inspiring us, encouraged me to investigate closely the beauty of devotional poetry by Meera Bai, Kabir, Tulsidas etc. Encouragement from Miss Gasper fuelled a life long interest in music & singing. Then some time back I felt deeply inspired to write just a handful of devotional songs spaced over a few years. In 1992 when I visited Mumbai, I sought out Mrs Rajhans at her residence & had the privelege of sharing my songs with her. It was very touching & truly humbling to note how well she remembered our class of 1963 despite all those years & all the vast numbers of pupils she will have known during her entire teaching career!
I would like to share these songs with you. They are to me a gift from Grace. They continue to serve to lift me up when I’m down in the dumps and bring me gently back to the ground when I’m inflated & ready to take off ! Hope you enjoy them .
